TEHRAN (IQNA) – A ceremony was held at the branch of the University of Quran and Islamic Sciences in Yemen’s Aden to honor memorizers of the Holy Quran.

A total of 47 women Quran memorizers, who are among the university’s students, were commended at the ceremony for their achievement, As-Sahva website reported.

Speakers at the event, including the university’s professors, called on the students to remain committed to the Quran and make it a top priority to teach it to others.

A representative of the memorizers also addressed the ceremony, talking about her feelings and that of the others about learning the Holy Book by heart.

She also thanked the university’s officials for their efforts to enhance to quality of education at the academic center.

The University of Quran and Islamic Sciences is the first academic center specialized in Quranic sciences in Yemen.

It was launched in 1994 in the country’s capital of Sana’a and its branch in Aden was opened in 2009.

Many of the university’s students take special memorization courses to learn the entire Quran.
